This season, the Detroit Lions will have incredible hype. In fact, Webberville’s enormous corn maze is the first indication of it.

VIDEO: Dan Campbell-inspired Detroit Lions corn maze in Webberville is captured on drone footage.

The maze has been constructed at Choice Farm Market, where Loretta Benjamin is a co-owner.

“We knew at the end of last season that the Lions were going to be our theme this year,” she told our crew.

Benjamin stated that since last February, she and her family have been organizing the Detroit Lions corn maze, which was inspired by Dan Campbell.

“We decided on the lion because we imagined the mane to be a fantastic maze. Then it dawned on me, how appropriate it would be to place Dan Campbell on that lion head,” she remarked.

According to Benjamin, information about the maze wasn’t intended to be released until it opens in September. Not even all of it is finished yet. But because of Lions devotion and a passing pilot, the pretty hefty cat is out of the bag two months early.

It appears that someone flew over, took a photo, posted it to social media, and it quickly went viral, according to Benjamin. “It’s extraordinary — extraordinary. A few Lions players have expressed their liking for our message on our Facebook page.”

Even an image of the maze was posted on the Detroit Lions NFL Instagram account, with the phrase “Just…wow.”

Benjamin indicated that GPS coordinates were used in the maze’s creation.

They were out there after dark, so it took a good twelve hours,” she remarked.

There will be Detroit Lions-themed picture ops and interactive games like quizzes waiting for visitors amongst the corn stalks when the maze opens on September 28.

Benjamin responded, “Yes, this is a sign,” when asked if she believed the corn maze’s success portended the Lions’ success this season. We are lucky to be able to discuss the Super Bowl in a formal manner.”
