According to Florence Okpe, a state representative for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), there were a total of 17 people involved.
In Kere Town, in the Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, a road crash has reportedly claimed the lives of nine people.
Seven other people were hurt in the tragic accident that happened on Tuesday on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
Florence Okpe, the state’s Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) spokesperson, verified the accident in a statement.
Around eight in the morning, a crash happened on the Lagos-Abeokuta route. Seven people were hurt, nine people were sadly reported dead, and there were a total of 17 people involved, she said.
The spokesperson stated that overspeeding and route violations, which resulted in a head-on collision between two vehicles, were the likely causes of the collision.
She continued, “The corpses were deposited at Lantoro Hospital and General Hospital Ijaye Abeokuta, while the injured victims were taken to General Hospital Ijaye.”

Anthony Uga, the state’s FRSC Sector Commander, issued a warning to drivers about route violations and excessive speeding, highlighting the potential consequences of both infractions.
He also expressed his sympathy to the family of the crash victims and cautioned drivers to abide by traffic laws.
