Novak Djokovic will start his journey at the 2024 US Open by facing Radu Albot of Moldova on the opening day of the tournament, August 26. Djokovic, the current champion, is expected to be a top contender for the title once again.

Albot earned his spot in the main draw of the 2024 US Open for the 10th time through the qualifying rounds. Ranked 138th in the world, Albot had to put in a lot of effort in all three qualifying matches to defeat his opponents and secure a spot in the main draw.

Djokovic and Albot have not faced each other in an ATP Tour match before. Albot is looking forward to playing against one of the best players ever. He sat down for an interview with ATPTour.

Com before his match and shared his excitement about playing at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, the biggest tennis-only venue in the world, in front of a full crowd. Albot also talked about the messages he has been getting as he gets ready to play against the 24-time Grand Slam champion.

Novak Djokovic will play his first match at the US Open 2024 after winning his first Olympic gold medal at the 2024 Summer Games in Paris on August 4. He achieved his Career Golden Slam by winning all four Majors and defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the final in Paris.

The 37-year-old made it to the gold medal match at the Paris Olympics by beating Australia’s Matthew Ebden, Spain’s Rafael Nadal, Germany’s Dominik Koepfer, Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti. Djokovic skipped the North American hardcourt tournaments after Paris and went straight to New York for the final Grand Slam of the year.

In the first round, Radu Albot played in the North American hardcourt swing. He got into the Citi Open as a qualifier and beat Facundo Diaz Acosta before being defeated by Ben Shelton in the second round.
