  1. Ollie Watkins informed Cole Palmer that they would team up to score for England before they were substituted onto the field against the Netherlands.

Watkins and Palmer entered the game in the 81st minute with the score tied at 1-1 during the Euro 2024 semi-final in Dortmund. Watkins received a pass from Palmer in the channel and then struck a strong, low shot past Stefan de Vrij, threading it through the defender’s legs and into the bottom corner of the net.

After securing a third consecutive comeback victory in the knockout rounds, England will meet Spain in the final in Berlin on Sunday. Ollie Watkins, who had awaited his chance patiently throughout Euro 2024, has emerged as England’s hero.

Speaking to ITV moments after the match ended, Watkins exclaimed, “It’s unbelievable. I’ve been anticipating that moment for weeks. It’s been a journey of hard work to reach this point, and I’m thankful for the opportunity I received and seized with everything I had. I’m absolutely thrilled.”

He then disclosed, “I promise you, I promised Cole Palmer before we came on: ‘We’re going on, and you’re going to assist me today.’ That’s why I was so overjoyed.”

“I knew as soon as he got the ball he was going to play me and then you’ve got to be greedy: touch and finish. And when I seen it go in the bottom corner… oh my life. Best feeling ever.”
