Texas’s Lubbock (KCBD) – On Saturday, the 46th Lubbock Arts Festival will begin. Colorama is the theme for this year.

“Art from painting, pottery, music, dance, whatever – Lubbock has always been a community that supported that,” says Steve Maines, president of the board of the Lubbock Arts Alliance.

The Lubbock Arts Festival, which has been in the works for a year, will feature more than 100 artists from across the country.

Maines claims that great care is taken in selecting the artists to ensure that each year’s showcase surpasses all expectations.

“We also travel the nation visiting other art festivals, identifying and inviting those who are doing excellent work to Lubbock.”

Voted Texas’s best art show for the last three years, this is the biggest art show in West Texas.

It’s evidence of the appreciation for art in all forms held by the people of Lubbock, Maines said.

Whatever your age, there will be lots to do. You can watch artists create ceramics, sculptures, or paintings, or you can participate in some of the booths and create your own work of art to take home.

Live music, a DJ, special guests, comedy shows, competitions, and kid-friendly activities are all planned.

While guests are free to explore and take in the stunning artwork, Maines is urging everyone to support these artists by bringing cash so we can keep them coming back.

“We want these booth artists to leave with nothing,” he stated. “We would like visitors to come with the intention of viewing and purchasing art.”

While taking in the music, artwork, and eye-catching colors at the festival, visitors can also help support the arts in West Texas.

Tickets are available here for $5 until Friday, April 12 at midnight. Then, on Saturday, April 13, and Sunday, April 14, tickets are available at the door for $7. Youngsters under 12 enter free of charge.
