I believe that once Green understands the rules and boundaries, he will become a reliable nickelback for the 49ers.

Green might not get the chance to start at the beginning of the season since he needs to outperform Isaac Yiadom, the experienced cornerback. The 49ers coaching staff tends to be cautious in selecting starters.

However, Yiadom has had an inconsistent career, with his standout performance last season being a first in his career. Before 2024, he struggled significantly.

Now, as the main target in the 49ers’ secondary, Yiadom will face plenty of challenges as opposing quarterbacks may avoid throwing towards Charvarius Ward or Deommodore Lenoir. If Yiadom struggles, it will become apparent quickly.

Sometimes he is too tight in coverage and may make penalties, but it’s better to be aggressive than passive. Once he figures out the right balance, I believe he will be a great nickelback for the 49ers.
