Islanders who are struggling with a variety of challenges in their lives have expressed themselves in art, which is now on display.

The grace trust in jersey is a non-profit organization that helps people in jersey who are struggling with various aspects of their lives, including poverty and marginalization.

For 16 years, it has been running its ‘art in the park’ initiative, which encourages service users to spend a few hours a week to explore a new artistic skill outdoors and express themselves.

The works created in these community spaces are being shown to other islanders.
The exhibition will be open at the jaro gallery in st helier on saturday, june 29.

Art in the park, according to vini jones, grace trust’s general manager, has really made a difference in jersey’s community: “it’s really just a project, aimed as always with grace trust, to give people a sense of belonging.

” “we find that the art is able to extract things from them [the service users] that they didn’t know they had.

Vini hopes that islanders will attend the exhibition: “it’s just a brilliant display of hope, of overcoming, and of community and belonging for people who struggle with certain aspects of life,” vini says.
