Emma Raducanu has apologized sincerely to a young girl after it seemed like she didn’t want to talk to fans during a practice session at the 2024 US Open. The girl had said that Raducanu was her favorite tennis player during an interview while Raducanu was practicing.

Raducanu will be back to playing in tournaments at Flushing Meadows after a break in her schedule.

She recently played at the Mubadala Citi DC Open in Washington but decided not to participate in the National Bank Open in Toronto and the Cincinnati Open. The upcoming US Open will be Raducanu’s third time competing in this important hardcourt tournament.

Her first appearance in the tournament in 2021 was what made her famous worldwide, as she went from qualifying to winning the title.

On Thursday, August 22, Raducanu practiced on the courts where many people were excited to see their favorite tennis stars getting ready. A little girl, who said that the World No.71 was her favorite player in a short interview, was also there.

Unfortunately, the girl didn’t get to meet her favorite player because Raducanu quickly left the court after finishing her practice. An X user, who used to be known as Twitter, reported the updates.

During an interview, a young child sweetly expressed, “My favorite player is Emma Raducanu. ” The interviewer on the court attempted to persuade her to take a photo with the child, but she politely declined.

Soon, Raducanu heard about the little girl and decided to personally apologize to her.
She explained that she had to leave quickly, which is why she didn’t do interviews or interact with fans.

  She thanked the girl for her kind words and apologized for not being able to meet her after practice. Raducanu expressed her desire to find a way to meet the girl or send her a signed item or photo.

The 2021 US Open winner asked her X followers to assist her in finding the young girl. Raducanu will face Sofia Kenin, a former World No.4 and 2020 Australian Open champion, in the opening round of the 2024 US Open.

Raducanu may face a tough opponent in Kenin at the US Open, as Kenin has played more matches leading up to the tournament. However, Kenin has not been performing consistently well, having been eliminated early in recent tournaments.
This will be the first time Raducanu and Kenin will play against each other on the WTA Tour. The winner of their match will move on to play either Shelby Rogers or Jessica Pegula.
