The Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant is expected to be traded this offseason, but if it were up to him, the deal would have reportedly happened prior to the NBA trade deadline. Durant would already be a Boston Celtics player. Kevin O’Connor, an NBA analyst for Yahoo Sports, reported Tuesday morning that there were rumors that KD (Durant) wanted to sign with the Knicks or Celtics at the trade deadline. As O’Connor stated, it was and still is “extremely unlikely” that Durant would be moved to Boston. The 36-year-old’s last season under contract, 2025–2026, will bring in $54.7 million. The Green are unable to re-sign Durant for more money or trade for his money.

If Durant ventures back to the Eastern Conference, it almost certainly won’t be Boston. Or even New York. Miami, however, might be a possibility as Durant reportedly would sign long-term in South Beach.
