veteran snooker star hoping to win back his place on the professional tour has hailed victories over Mark Williams and Ronnie O’Sullivan on the same day as the best achievement of his career. Williams and O’Sullivan have 10 World Championship titles between them and were difficult opponents to beat during their primes, let alone in the same 24 hours.
But that is exactly what Barry Pinches did at the 2010 Players Tour Championship. At Event 4, Pinches defeated Williams 4-1 in the semi-final before overcoming O’Sullivan 4-3 in the final. He had previously reached the final of Event 2 earlier that season but lost against Mark Selby. His victory over seven-time world champion and snooker icon O’Sullivan remains the 54-year-old’s proudest achievement.
