George Pickens, wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, was not impressed by the Cleveland Browns’ performance in their 24-19 win at Huntington Bank Field on Thursday night.
He believed that the accumulating snow was the reason for the outcome and did not give any credit to their AFC North rival. Pickens told reporters after the game that the weather had a big impact on today’s game.
He mentioned that he doesn’t believe the Cleveland Browns are a strong team and that the weather conditions helped them win. Despite the Steelers outgaining the Browns and winning the takeaway battle, Cleveland struggled on third downs, only converting one out of 10 attempts.
However, they were successful on all four of their fourth-down tries. The Browns managed to hold the lead in the second half until Russell Wilson’s pass to Calvin Austin III put the Steelers ahead.
With just over six minutes left, the Steelers were in the lead, but a short punt by Corliss Waitman gave the Browns a chance to score. Nick Chubb scored a touchdown with less than a minute remaining, putting the Browns back in the lead.
The Steelers moved 29 yards on the last drive, but Wilson’s throw to the end zone was incomplete.
Pickens, who caught four passes for 48 yards out of seven attempts, seemed to have a confrontation with Browns cornerback Greg Newsome II after the play.

When evaluating the two teams after the game, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin had a different opinion compared to Pickens.
“I believed (the Browns) played well tonight…. They made more plays throughout the game than we did,” Tomlin stated in a press conference after the game. The Steelers and Browns will meet again on Dec. 8 in Pittsburgh.
