The album is the veteran radio host and DJ from Brussels’ first full-length release through Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings.

Brownswood Recordings, a London label owned by Gilles Peterson, has released Lefto Early Bird’s debut full-length album.
The 10-track album titled “Motherless Father” was released on March 8 of this month, following teases of tracks from the album.
To celebrate the new record, the DJ is throwing a number of album launch parties in Paris, Belgium, and London.
The spoken word of “Love Supreme” (Pts. 1 and 2), the spaced-out synths of “The Birth of a New You” (feat. Pierro Spataro), and the cinematic saxophone of “I Sing To Find Peace Of Mind” (feat. Simbad) are just a few examples of the album’s reflective and poetic titles.
‘Motherless Father’ is primarily inspired by jazz, with electronic components, live instruments, and vocals that are both realistic and distorted.
“A deep pre-club record that will give you the energy to go out there and party but with a feeling of letting go of everything,” Lefto said of the release in a statement shared with Mixmag.
A number of collaborations can be heard on “Motherless Father,” including work by German duo aint about me, DJ/multi-instrumentalist Simbad, who posted on Instagram that Lefto put “his heart & soul” into the record, and vocalist Iman Houssein, who draws inspiration from traditional folk songs.

Alongside artists like Octo Octa, Shy One, and Skream & Benga, the veteran DJ and radio host will be performing at this year’s Brussels festival. The artist is a resident of the Horst Festival.
In addition, the artist has hosted a stage at Dour Festival, one of the largest festivals in Belgium, and has previously shared the stage with Robert Glasper, Thundercat, and Badbadnotgood.
Even now, Lefto can still be heard on popular radio stations like Kiosk Radio, The Lot Radio, and the now-defunct Worldwide FM, where he initially gained popularity.
Here is a listen to “I Sing To Find Peace Of Mind,” the sixth song on the album featuring Simbad.
